|
The Upper Langstrothdale and in particular the densely forested region of Landstrothdale Chase have been much neglected by prospectors looking for new caves in the Yorkshire Dales. A persistent group of ULSA members have made some interesting finds in the region over the past five years.
Gavin Elsley & Rob Smallshire following a surveying trip into Crucifiction cave. Although there have been many finds of minor interest, the most significant is Crucifiction Cave, which has a classic Northern Dales atmosphere in its gloomy interior. An extended campaign of exploration in the caves of Greenfield Beck produced some interesting finds - suggesting the existence of a kilometre-scale cave system which has yet to be fully explored by cavers or divers. |
